This event brings together professionals from Romania and from abroad, neurosurgeons with various level of expertise with the goal of improving theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of neuronavigation, neuroendoscopy and pediatric neurosurgery.

We hope that this event, in 2015 at the 2nd edition, will be a new good opportunity for great memories, new friendships, a good time and an optimal occasion to exchange knowledge, to generate new ideas, concepts, and strategies, practical abilities in the use of neuronavigation and endoscopy to the benefit of the patients and neurosurgery prestige.

Course Objectives:
- Understand the basic principles and practice of therapeutic endoscopy in Neurosurgery
- Identify and properly use endoscopic equipment key to each procedure
- To review the endoscopic anatomy of the nose, sinuses, ventricular system and lumbar spine
- Employ basic skills to perform safe and effective endoscopic procedures in Neurosurgery
- Get up to date with the latest technologies used in Neurosurgery (neuronavigation, endovascular treatment on stroke)

Course description:
Trainees will be distributed in 4 groups (A to D) of 6 people each and every group will work under the supervision of 2 faculty members.
The hands-on course will be held on 4 stations:
STATION 1 with 3 posts;
STATION 2 with 4 posts;
STATION 3 with 1 post for endoscopic spine approach, 1 post for neuromodulation
In pain therapy and intraoperative monitoring;
STATION 4 with 1 post for neuronavigation , 1 post for endovascular treatment on stroke - simulation with PENUMBRA systems.

Each trainee will have the occasion to:
- learn to setup the endoscope (camera, light source, adjustments)
- learn the key steps of each procedure
- perform endoscopic approaches on models specially designed for training - provided by Karl Storz Endoscopia Romania.
Transsphenoidal approach
Approach of the 3rd ventricle
Endoscopic spine approach, neuromodulation in pain therapy and intraoperative monitoring

Hands-on program*

Small groups of 6 people rotate every 1h30 between the following 4 stations:
- Endoscopic transsphenoidal approach
- Endoscopic approach of the 3rd ventricle
- Endoscopic spine approach neuromodulation in pain therapy and intraoperative monitoring
- Advanced neurosurgical techniques (neuronavigation, endovascular treatment on stroke)




*depending on the number of students registered, the hands-on can be also held Sunday, March 29.

UPDATE: we have filled all the places for the hands-on scheduled Wednesday, March 25th. For new applicants, the program will be repeated on Sunday, March 29th.

Dr. Cristian Grasu: "Anual, 50.000 de români au nevoie de radioterapie"

Aproximativ 50.000 de bolnavi de cancer au nevoie anual de radioterapie, iar statul poate asigura, în condițiile actuale, tratament pentru 17.000, a declarat, într-un interviu acordat Agerpres, dr. Cristian Grasu, director în Ministerul Sănătății. Potrivit acestuia, pentru ca România să ajungă la nivelul țărilor din UE în ceea ce privește tratamentul prin radioterapie ar mai fi nevoie de peste 80 de acceleratoare, ceea ce ar presupune un efort financiar din partea statului de peste 350 milioane de euro, iar acest lucru nu este posibil fără un plan pe termen mediu. >> Citeste
